Angel Falls
This photograph made history.
It became the most valuable photograph in Robertson’s archive and was published in every major newspaper and magazine in the world.
Ruth convinced two of her bush pilot friends, Art Jones and Charlie Baughan, to assist her in getting this shot. She was flying with Art Jones. To make a point of comparison, the plan was for the two DC-3’s to fly into the dead-end canyon in opposite directions so she could shoot across the canyon and capture Baughan’s plane flying past the falls. After four runs she got the shot she wanted. Baughan’s white plane can be seen among the trees to the left of the falls. The wingtip of the Jones plane is on the right.
